The district conducted a thorough survey of the math curriculum across the district in 2003/04. Surveys were sent to parents across the district. Survey results are published in the following document: Mathematics Curriculum Framework, April 28, 2004

Below are parent comments relating to Integrated Math that have been taken directly from that document:

The survey asked: "What suggestion, if any do you have to improve the math curriculum?"
Number of responses: 78
Issues with Integrated Math: 32
Need more PSAT, ACT, Sat review: 6
Need more communication: 7
Computer, calculator, basic drills: 7

"The math curriculum is very abstract and seems to make a difficult subject more difficult for the integrated math students."

"The program is weak at the high school level if you are not in 'Honors'."

"A new math book along with new curriculum besides Integrated."

"The Integrated math class is not adequate in meeting the mathematical needs for the PSAT."

"Our older son, a CHS graduated believes he suffered on SAT's and college acceptance/placement because he was not in honors math."

"I have a child currently in IM which is not challenging enough for her. Honors math would be too challenging. She's caught in the middle."

"I think the "basics" should come first then introduce creativity.
